POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a woman was sexually assaulted in Worcester.

West Mercia Police said they believe the man may have information which could help the investigation.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was walking under the viaduct by the entrance of the Cattlemarket car park, at the junction of Castle Street and Croft Road, when she was approached from behind by a man who put his hands over her face and touched her inappropriately over her clothing.

The victim then ran off.

The offender is described wearing dark clothing.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information to come forward.

Detective Inspector John Cashion from Worcester CID said: "This was a very frightening incident for the victim and specialist officers continue to support her.

"We would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images as he may have information which could help the investigation."

Following the attack, reassurance patrols were carried out in the area.

Anyone with information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 63s of December 12.

The sexual assault took place at 5.30am on Tuesday, December 12.
