A MAN who was previously jailed for manslaughter is wanted by police.

Daniel Martin, aged 29, was jailed for 10 years in 2013 for killing convicted sex offender Andrew Heath.

Police say he is wanted on recall to prison as he is believed to have breached the conditions of his licence.

He is described as a white man, around 5ft 7ins, of a small build with short brown hair.

Detective Inspector Dave Knight said: "We would like to trace Daniel Martin as soon as possible and would ask the public not to approach him if they see him, but to call police.

"Mr Martin is believed to have connections to Worcester. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, we would ask you to please contact us."

Martin, who was living in Canterbury Road, Ronkswood, in 2011, set fire to a wheelie bin and pushed it up against the front door of Mr Heath's Warndon flat in the early hours of December 14, that year, sparking a rapidly spreading and ferocious blaze in which the 52-year-old was killed.

Martin later threw stones at the house, in order to try and wake Mr Heath after the blaze caught hold.

Sentencing Martin for manslaughter at Birmingham Crown Court, Justice Thirlwall said the crime was "shockingly stupid".

She said the 25-year-old had intended "to do something so frightening, it would cause him (Heath) to move away from the area where he had lived since 2001."

He was released on licence from HMP Birmingham in October 2017.
