THE death of a Worcester man whose body was found in a brook is no longer being treated as suspicious, say police.

The body of Scott Hartland - a father of three - was found by a dog walker in Laugherne Brook, off Solitaire Avenue, in St John’s, in February.

West Mercia Police initially treated the 30-year-old’s death as suspicious and launched a murder inquiry.

One man was arrested and released on bail while investigations continued. But officers have now ruled out murder.

Detective Inspector Jon Wallis said: “The case has now been referred in full to the coroner as an unexplained death, it is not being treated as suspicious.

“The man arrested has been released from his bail and there will be no further police action against him.”

An inquest into Mr Hartland’s death has been opened and adjourned while reports are carried out.

Following the death of Mr Hartland, of Drakes Avenue, Dines Green, Worcester, a Facebook tribute page was set up by his family, attracting several hundred members.
