Queues and chaos – just what you need in the commuter rush.
But that looks as if it’s what Worcester can expect for the next three or four months because of roadworks on a main route into the city.
We know the sort of gas mains replacement work being done is essential.
And we can but hope that things settle down soon as drivers get used to the closure and find sensible alternatives.
But why is it that these roadworks always seem to catch people out?
Surely there must be more effective ways of warning people and avoiding these scenes of chaos? Why can’t the work be done at night, or at weekends, or in school holidays?
We know roadworks are essential, but is it essential that they are accompanied by this level of congestion and frustration?
