CHARITY shops are urging people to show their support by donating items directly to their doors.
Good causes across Worcester are joining in the Charity Retail Association’s (CRA) national Choose Charity Shops campaign, which starts on Monday. The campaign encourages donors to bring their things straight to charity shops rather than take them to a cash-for-clothing merchant or leaving them on the doorstep, where they may be stolen or go to a bogus collector.
Last week, charity shops in St John’s joined forces to raise awareness of the campaign. Fran Holder, shop manager for Cats Protection, said: “We make the most of the donations and nothing gets wasted.”
“Esther Phillips, shop manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “This campaign is a great way to make people more aware of the charity shops on their doorsteps.”
The Choose Charity Shops runs until Saturday, May 19. For more information, go to choosecharityshops.org.
