THE organiser of a Diamond Jubilee street party in Worcester wants to track down some of the youngsters who were at a previous street party nearly 60 years ago.

This picture shows partygoers in Pinkett Street who were celebrating the Queen’s coronation in 1953.

Sandra Smith – who is pictured aged five smiling on the front row, second from left – said she wants to invite everyone who was at the original street party to Pinkett Street’s Jubilee party in June. So far 11 people in the photo have agreed to attend, while others have died or cannot make it.

However, there are still some people who have not been traced and Mrs Smith hopes that Worcester News readers can help.

She wants to hear from Pat Twinberrow, who is pictured with pigtails fourth from the left on the front row, and Alan Patrick, pictured in shorts second from the right on the front row.

Mrs Smith also needs to find Pauline Darke, the girl with the hairband behind young Alan, and Colin Jones, pictured wearing a dark blazer behind Pauline.

She also wants to find out more about two people she does not have names for, including the girl with dark hair standing next to the baby on the middle row and the girl fourth from the right on the back row.

“We are trying to involve these people in it as well as the many new people living in Pinkett Street now,” said Mrs Smith.

There are 70 children and 40 senior citizens attending the Pinkett Street party which will be held on Sunday, June 3, and will take the form of a children’s party in the afternoon and a pig roast in the evening.

Anyone who recognises themselves or knows any of the missing people, can call Mrs Smith on 01905 452689.
