Air ambulance gets support

SKILLS for Security, the Worcester-based skills and standards setting body for the security business, has pledged to support the County Air Ambulance Trust throughout 2008.

An initial donation of £1,000 was made with plans of further fund-raising throughout the year.

David Greer, chief executive of Skills for Security, said: "The County Air Ambulance Trust is such a worthwhile charity. It is incredible that only three helicopters provide prompt and specialised medical treatment and care to an area of 8,000 sq miles and a population of over 7.8 million.

"The air ambulance continually saves lives and they rely solely on donations, as they don't receive any financial support from the Government or the National Lottery.

"We are pleased that we can support them in this way."

Keith Hodson, administrator for the County Air Ambulance Trust, added: "The current cost of operating each air ambulance aircraft equates to £1 million per annum. We are very grateful for the support from people and organisations like Skills for Security, as otherwise this unique, life-saving emergency service would not exist."
