Kicking off for class in football fun
Children can learn teamwork and other skills as well as having football coaching.
Children can learn teamwork and other skills as well as having football coaching.

CALLING all parents. Are you pushing a potential Stevie G, a Wayne or even a Michael Owen around in your baby buggy?

Now you might have the chance to find out, because a new business has started in Worcester offering football classes to the under fives.

Called Little Kickers, it is being run by Michele and Steve Munn, who are launching their first sessions in Fernhill Heath and hope to spread further afield soon.

"As parents of a young boy absolutely mad about football, we found there were very few activities or clubs targeted at boys and most football classes didn't accept children under the age of four or five," said Mr Munn. "This was when we became aware of Little Kickers and we were pleasantly surprised to find that football can be taught to all ages, especially pre-school children and can be made fun in the process.

"It isn't just about boys either, football can be enjoyed by girls and Little Kickers welcomes girls to join in the fun."

Aimed at the 18 months to five years age range, the classes have been designed by FA qualified coaches and nursery school teachers, to offer the best means of teaching football while helping children learn valuable concepts such as sharing, teamwork and listening to instructions. Classes also enable children to develop agility, co-ordination and balance as well as a positive introduction to sport.

"The real difference with Little Kickers is that the classes are specifically tailored to suit the developmental requirements of young children," Mr Munn added. "We are starting our first classes in Fernhill Heath Memorial Hall, Droitwich Road, Worcester, for both Junior Kickers and Mega Kickers classes, and full details can be found on our website www.littlekickers.co.uk.

"Additional classes will also be available in Worcester, Droitwich, Evesham, Pershore and Malvern areas."
