CLASSICAL MUSIC SOCIETY

8:12am Tuesday 29th April 2008

Bob Polfreman told the story of Papa Haydn, with a potted biography of one of the world's most prolific composers Joseph Haydn.

Haydn learned a great deal from the composer Nicola Porpora and members heard part of a recording of Porpora's cello concerto.

It was followed by the final movement of a cello concerto by Haydn, the manuscript of which was lost for more than 200 years.

Former member Tony Baker will present Out and About, a programme of recorded music on Friday, May 9. It will be held at Holy Innocents community centre, Kidderminster, starting at 7.30pm. Visitors are welcome.

For further details of this or any other society event, contact vice-chairman Von Stewart on 01562 755990, or visit www.thefrms.co.uk/kidd.htm.
