A flower demonstration by Virginia Davis, assisted by Christine Huzzey, proved very popular.
Entitled The Journey, it was held at Stoke Works Social Club on Wednesday, April 9, by kind permission of Neil Toothill.
The event raised £800 for new equipment for the servery which is to be built at St Michael's Church.
Virginia's presentation began at the church and proceeded joyfully before ending at The Ritz in London.
On the way there had been stops at historic sites, all illustrated by spectacular floral arrangements which were the prizes in the raffle.
Peter O'Connor gave the vote of thanks to Virginia and Christine and the band of helpers who had all made the afternoon so successful.
The final pleasure was the afternoon tea served by traditional nippies' in traditional nippy' outfits. Long may we celebrate tradition!
