READERS of your Worcester News have been contacting us in disgust over the revelation that letters and parcels are being left unattended in Worcester.
Some readers have also revealed more locations.
Yesterday we exposed Royal Mail for leaving bags of mail unattended in gardens, wheelie bins and unlocked foyers in what postal workers call 'unsecured bag drops'.
Readers who called us or commented on our website said the practice has been going on for some time.
Jean Slade, of Claines, said: "I have lived in my house for 10 years and to my knowledge the post has always been left in my neighbour's front garden. It has been going on for as long as I can remember.
"You can see the bags as you walk along the road, they are not even up against the front door. They really are quite visible."
One man, who did not want to be named, said he alerted Royal Mail in March to say that bags were being left under a tree in garden. He received a letter from Royal Mail to say they did not leave bags at private houses.
The man said: "It is still going on. Every weekday at 8am the bags are dropped off. Contacting Royal Mail about the problem has made no difference whatsoever."
A spokesman for Royal Mail said that after an immediate review they had withdrawn all drop points in the city which did not meet the necessary criteria - defined as stored behind a locked door, or in an area inaccessible to the general public. They were not, however, prepared to tell us how many had been removed.
