Turn up radio and stop whinging about planes
SIR - Frankly, I find the moaning and whinging by residents of our so-called Faithful City concerning the orbiting RAF aircraft completely underwhelming.
Just in case it has escaped those people's notice, the world is in a precarious state. Our servicemen and woman are risking life and limb far from home on a daily basis. The aircraft flying over Worcester are clearly engaged on either training or experimental flying connected with national security, and indeed, our safety.
So, instead of whining about the noise arising, which, on a scale of one-10 is about a two, and only mildly and occasionally irritating at worst, we should instead spare a thought for the aircrews involved who are flying long and tedious sorties - clearly for little or no thanks from those they seek to protect.
The Worcester News coverage of this matter is, I find, rather embarrassing as the impression given to the RAF and MoD is that Worcester generally is against this absolutely necessary flying - which is not the case. Most citizens are, I would suggest, completely unfazed, and only a minority of moaners are fuelling this fire. Instead, they should either turn up the radio or get some earplugs.
How about some reporting of the opinions of those of us who do not object to the noise', and pay tribute to the aircrew involved?
Dilip Sarkar,
Worcester.
