POLICE have named the victim of a stabbing in Worcester last night as 39-year-old Adrian Locke.

Paramedics discovered him outside 42a Teme Road at about 7.22pm with multiple stab wounds after they were called to the street by members of the public.

Mr Locke, who has family in Droitwich and Worcester, was confirmed dead at the scene by a doctor soon after. A post mortem is taking place this afternoon to determine the exact cause of death.

The property remains cordoned off as a large number of specialist officers from West Mercia Police gather evidence.

Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Chief Inspector Paul Kinsella of West Mercia Police said the motive for the attack was not yet known and there were no suspects at this stage.

In a prepared statement, he said: “We have a large number of officers working on this investigation, from specialist search teams and major investigation detectives to local officers and PCSOs manning the cordons and helping the public.

“The investigation team are at a very early stage in their inquiries and need to speak to anyone who knew Adrian and who saw him yesterday. They are particularly interested in his whereabouts between 5pm and 7.20pm.

“We have been told that Adrian was staying with a friend in Teme Road and he was found by paramedics outside the neighbouring property of 42a after they were called by members of the public.

“He had a number of stab wounds and despite their best efforts and that of a doctor who attended along with the paramedics, they declared him dead soon after.

“We need to trace anyone who was at the scene, particularly before the emergency services arrived. We are especially keen to hear from anyone who saw someone or some people make off from the scene, whether that was on foot, by bike or in a vehicle.

“We want to hear from anyone who visited 42a or knew who was there that day. If you were in the Teme Road area last night and saw or heard any suspicious activity of any kind, please call us.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymous on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 514-S-02/01/13.
