POPULAR Kinfayre Singers are set to mark their 50th anniversary later this month with a concert at Kinver Methodist Church.

The choir will be performing on Monday April 22 at 7.30pm and hope as many people as possible will turn up to support them.

Founded in 1963 by John Grazier, who remained their musical director right upto 1997, the choir has since become a vocal institution in and around Kinver.

Remarkably, the choir has remained numerically the same throughout the years with an average vocal strength of 40 members.

Carol Parrott is the current musical director, having taken over the role in 2004, while May Beebe has remained their accompanist for almost all of their entire 50 year existence.

Since their formation, the choir has made a major contribution to village life providing both pre-Christmas and springtime concerts, while raising over £23,000 for charity in the process by carol singing around the parish.
