A FAST food outlet is aiming for back-to-back victories in a top national competition.

The Bull Ring Chippy in St John’s, Worcester, is hoping to be crowned Best Kebab Shop outside of London – a prestigious accolade it has held for the past year.

Satisfied customers have nominated the store for the title and now staff at the chippy face a nervous wait to find out if they have made the British Kebab Awards 2015 shortlist.

Jon Randell, manager, said: “Winning the award once was absolutely amazing and having the chance to do it again is fantastic.

“We want to try and regain our title and it feels absolutely outstanding to be up for the award again.

“Being winners has been great for the shop and for the whole of St John’s.

“What makes this new nomination so important is that it comes from our customers.

“We’re totally customer driven and being up for the award again is great recognition for our staff who work hard year round to produce some of the very best food nationwide.

“Being recognised nationally again for what we do is a huge achievement and we have our fingers

crossed that Worcester will remain the home of the best kebab shop in the country.”

Worcester's MP Robin Walker is a fan of the outlet and has nominated it for the prestigious award.

His support will give the chippy a score boost from the judges, as recognition from a local politician is one of the ways entries are assessed.

Other factors include hygiene ratings and customer feedback.

The Bull Ring Chippy will find out if it has made the award shortlist on Wednesday, December 10, while the eventual winner will be announced at a glitzy ceremony on Wednesday, January 7.
