A NEW social media account will give people an interesting glimpse into the lives of various people living in the city.

Martin Price, a University of Worcester student from St John's, has set up the @worc52 Twitter account, described as a rotation curation account, which is set to go live on Monday, April 6.

Mr Price is hoping to sign up a diverse range of people who will take over the account for one week each.

They will then give details of what they have been up to in Worcester to @worc52's followers before handing the account over to the next person.

The 20-year-old, a second year graphic design student, came across the concept while studying in Cheltenham where the successful Chelt52 site has been running for over a year.

He said: "I first came across the idea while I was living in Cheltenham where they have a similar thing.

"It was a good way to discover places in the town I would have never found otherwise like cafes, restaurant or places to go for walks.

"It was also interesting to read things from such different people too.

"The account gets passed on to a different person each week and they can tweet whatever they want - obviously within reason.

"They tweet their experiences of Worcester.

"It's interesting because we all experience the city in different ways and I think it is really interesting to have one place which has all these different voices."

A few people have already been signed up to take over the @Worc52 account but Mr Price is hoping more people will come forward.

"I'm trying to get the word out at the moment but it will be so great when it gets started.

"I think it is really interesting to get anyone's story.

"It has been really popular in other places like Cheltenham and Bristol and hopefully it will take off here too."

While people can write tweets or post pictures about what they are up to Mr Price said he hoped to keep business promotion to a minimum.

"I'm hoping people who live in Worcester and are following the account might find something out about the city that they would not have otherwise discovered.

"It is great if we could get people from all walks of life taking part and tweeting."

Anyone wishing to sign up should log on to worc52.com or email hello@worc52.com.
