A SERVING soldier who admitted being drunk and disorderly in Worcester has been handed a conditional discharge.

Frederick Hobbs, of Green Lane, Lower Broadheath, was arrested in Coney Green Close, Warndon, on Tuesday, April 7, and appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 1.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Owen Beale, prosecuting, said police were called to the house at about 3.30am and found the 24-year-old outside with his partner, shouting and swearing.

He was arrested and later told police he could not remember anything about the incident.

Hobbs, who represented himself in court, said he had recently got home from a tour and had drunk to excess.

“I messed up,” he said.

Handing him a 12-month conditional discharge, Deputy District Judge Jim Tindall said the incident didn’t reflect particularly well on Hobbs.

“I don’t need to remind you that if you keep offending in this doubtless not most serious but still unpleasant of ways there will come a point where the military will tire of it,” he said.

Hobbs was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
