IT is not too late to make a big impression and delight huge crowds, by taking part in the Pershore Carnival procession.

The May Bank Holiday extravaganza, on Monday May 25, is expected to attract up to 15,000 people as usual, or even more, because organisers are keeping their fingers crossed for a record breaker

Whatever the final figures, the turn-out will make the Carnival an annual highlight on the town's events calendar.

One of the highlights will be the grand procession, and it is not to late to enter float or individually, as a walker.

Pershore Carnival chairman, Colin Shepherd said: "We have 29 attractions listed for the procession this year, and there are usually around 35. It is a very popular carnival."

This year the theme will be "Sport Past and Present" or "Sport Through the Ages," allowing plenty of scope for the imagination to run wild.

Last year's theme was "Heroes and Villains".

Each year a new "Carnival Court" is chosen, to lead the procession and this year the court will include James Andrews as the king, Jasmine Hoskins as the queen, Connor McNickle as the prince and Milly Thomas as the princess.

Another popular and associated event, to raise funds for the Carnival, is the rubber duck race down the River Avon which, last month, attracted more than 500 entrants.

The procession will leave Pershore Town Foot Club at noon on the big day, and it will end at Abbey Park, here attractions will include a fun fair and high wire acts.
