AN aspiring Worcester model is hoping to go one better in major competitions this time round, after missing out on the big prize last year.

Luissa Burton is a finalist in Miss Universe Great Britain for the second year running, but this time around is determined go one better and win the competition, which would provide her with a ticket to compete at Donald Trump's Miss Universe.

The finalists have a range of tasks and fundraising challenges they have to complete before they can be crowned the winner. One of the challenges this time around is to go a week without wearing any make-up.

Miss Burton, originally from Norton who is signed to top modelling agencies in London, said: "Competing at Miss Universe against girls from all around the world would be incredible.

"Winning the title would be the ultimate honour and testament to my hard work over the last six years competing in pageants.

"To be given the opportunity to walk on the Miss Universe stage amongst some of the most inspiring and empowered women across the globe would be a dream come true.

"Miss Universe Great Britain is about empowering young women and if I were to win, the role would be a privilege I would take on whole-heartedly."

Despite missing out on the Miss Universe Great Britain's top prize last year, Miss Burton did win the public vote and was also the top fundraiser for the charity Strongbones Children's Charitable Trust, the cause which Miss Universe Great Britain supports.

Her charity efforts included selling customised t-shirts, setting up a business blog and organising a number of fundraising events, all of which raised £2,300 for the cause.

O top of that, 25 year-old Miss Burton, who is also a patron for the campaign Love Your Body, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro which raised £2,000 the Child Reach International charity.

This year, Miss Burton is continuing with charity work, hosting a number of fundraising events at Worcester gyms, and is keeping in shape with gym sessions ahead of the big one event.

The final of Miss Universe Great Britain gets underway on June 25 until June 27, in Cardiff.
