A CHARITY that exists to promote amateur cricket is celebrating after a community radio station stepped up to the crease in support of the group's special event.
Cricket loving station 102.5 The Bridge will sponsor the D'Oliveira Foundation's gala dinner on Saturday, September 26, which will include a four-course dinner, live music and a guest speaker.
The D’Oliveira Foundation commemorates the lives of father and son duo Basil and Damian D’Oliveira, who both played for Worcestershire County Cricket Club, and aims to encourage participation in active sport through cricket.
Black Country radio station 102.5 The Bridge, which claims to play "the best mix of music", decided to get involved because of its passion for local sports coverage.
Roy Felstead, sports editor, said: "Something very close to our hearts is being the number one station for everything to do with grassroots Black Country sport.
"Cricket is especially dear to us including reporting from local league games plus, of course, from New Road."
