KATE Playdon of Worcester and her five singing companions who make up The HoneyBuns have just won the Best Entertainer category at the British Plus Size Awards 2015.

The 26 year-old, formerly of Kempsey, now living in London, and her curvy colleagues were nominated against six others in the section and were so thrilled at winning and closing the ceremony with a performance of their Britain's Got Talent Songs, It's Raining Men by The Weather Girls and Hold on by Wilson Philips at Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London.

Nominations were by public vote and they were awarded the Best Entertainer Plaque by Jeff Brazier one of the hosts for the evening.

The HoneyBuns are a mixture of six divas with huge voices combined with even bigger personalities.

A few of the girls met at a slimming club and found that they had singing and performing in common and felt that they would gain more confidence starting a girl group and performing - and that's how The HoneyBuns were born.

Their first performance as a group was on one of the biggest talent shows in the world - Britain's Got Talent.

Over the last few years, there has been a significant rise in the amount of plus size businesses, personalities and bloggers and the British Plus Size Awards are all about rewarding the outstanding services and inspirational people.

The HoneyBuns want to show the world that you don't have to be skinny to make it in the entertainment industry.

Kate who works for an events company when she is not performing said: "It was great to be awarded the prize, we were so humbled that the public voted for us to win, and it has been a perfect end to our first year as a group."

Kate is a former pupil of the Alice Ottley School, Worcester, and of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section (WODYS). She studied performing arts at Paul McCartney's LIPA and at Bird College in Kent.
