A WORCESTER vocal group has donated their voices to a worldwide voice bank for people who have lost their voice to illness.

Voices Unlimited have recorded 3,000 spoken sentences which will be used to create lifelike voices for those with Motor Neurone Disease.

The adult choir's recordings were collected by American company Vocal ID and each donated voice was matched to a recipient in terms of gender, age and accent.

It is hoped that the new voice can be as close as possible to the person's original tone.

The group, which has more than 100 members, concludes the project with two fundraising concerts at the Swan Theatre on Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28.

The show is called Musicals, Movies and Magical Memories and features popular songs from stage and screen.

The show will be fronted by professional vocal group 52nd Street, one of whom is currently on tour with Josh Groban.

A percentage of any profits from ticket sales will go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Tickets are available from Huntingdon Arts Box Office by calling 01905 611427.
