NEW NBA-style basketball boards have been installed at a Worcester school.

The boards were installed at Oldbury Park Primary School using part of the school's PE premium funding.

They are used in the key stage 2 playground before school, during break and lunchtimes and for lessons and clubs.

The school has also bought some inclusion sports equipment leading to new age Kurling and Boccia being played at the school.

Pupils from year 6 have been trained to play the sports with children from lower year groups, with particular emphasis on those that find accessing mainstream PE challenging.

Tim Williams, the school's PE & Clubs co-ordinator, said: "The children have also been inspired by a recent visit to the school of ex British Olympian Christian Malcolm.

"Christian spoke about the need to show great determination and perseverance when playing sport and stressed the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

"Since then, all children in the school from reception to Year 6 have been walking, jogging or running 1km each day.

"This, not only, helps children to be physically active, but also helps them to concentrate more when they return to the class and will continue on into the autumn term."
