A MUCH loved teacher who passed away earlier this year has managed to put a smile on his former pupils' faces - five months after his death.

Dennis Fisher's widow unearthed a box of photographs documenting his time at Samuel Southall and Elgar High School from 1974 to 2006.

Hundreds of images show happy times at the school - from school trips and plays to formal school photographs and swimming lessons.

Rather than throw them out, Janet Fisher passed them on to a former pupil Margie Long who has been busy uploading them on to Facebook with Alan Mansell.

Now ex-pupils have been enjoying the flashback to their school days during Mr Fisher's time at the schools on Bilford Road, Worcester.

Hundreds of photographs have been added to the Facebook page Samuel Southall and Elgar High Photos which is now 'liked' by almost 900 former pupils.

Margie Long said: "When the photos arrived outside my front door I looked through and thought why would anyone leave photos here then I saw Mr Fisher's photograph - it touched my heart immediately.

"Then I saw the note from his wife, wow, what a wonderful thought to pass them on.

"You could smell that old smell when something is put away for years I recognised so many people from the 1960s to the 1980s.

"I hope if you find yourself among these photos you enjoy you trip down memory lane to your schooldays.

"Thank you for the memories Mr Fisher."

Mr Mansell said: "I think we are all so lucky to have had someone like Mr Fisher who kept and looked after all these photos throughout the years.

"We must also thank his wife, Janet, for being so considerate in passing these photos on - and not taking them to the tip - knowing that all the past pupils and their families would love to see these photos."

In her note, Mrs Fisher wrote: "Thought you might like to look through these before they go to the tip."

Mr Fisher died on Friday, February 12 at the age of 70 with many ex-pupils paying their respects at his funeral at St George's Catholic Church, Sansome Place.
