A FOUR-day family event, for the first time being held at a Droitwich venue, has attracted more than 1,000 festival-goers.

Wizzafest is in its 11th year, having previously been held in Stoke Prior, but this year has moved to Droitwich Equestrian Centre at Dodderhill Court.

Revellers, many bringing their children and camping overnight each day on the site, have been enjoying various activities and entertainment in the sunny weather of the last few days.

Among the entertainment has been live music from singers and bands on a main stage, as well as a variety of other performers including Someone at the door samba band, choirs, and dancers.

There have also been stalls, food and drinks, a bouncy castle, children's activities, football and cricket organised by Kinetic Sports Club, and pony rides.

Money raised at the event is being donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, the annual festival having already donated more than £15,000 to the cause since 2004.

Tim Stitt, festival co-ordinator, said "All the stall holders, and many of the performers, are local traders and entertainers.

"Many families struggle to go to the big commercial festivals now, so we are bring an affordable festival experience to the community."

Emma Wilcott, a fellow festival organiser, added that they were expecting to reach around 5,000 visitors during the four days, a similar number to previous years, and said that the performers had created a wonderful atmosphere for the crowds.
