THE days of nervously arriving at school or college to collect envelopes containing A-level results appear to be drawing to an end.
Students are now more likely to receive their results by e-mail or by going online before discussing with their friends on social media.
Fewer students actually turn up to pick up the hard copy of their results.
The online system used by Universities also mean many students receive an email telling them whether they have secured their place before their results are available - sometimes up to two or three days before results day.
It means if they needed certain grades for their place, they already have a vague idea of how they must have done.
Becky Kerridge, from Worcester Sixth Form College, said: "I found out early this morning,
"I was online when they put them up.
"People don't come down here (to College) if they haven't done well."
Daniel Scotson was at the College but said he had already picked up his results.
He said: "I was online at 7.15am.
"I was in bed at the time. I got my iPad and checked about quarter to seven and then at quarter past they had come up."
