A four figure sum was stolen from a local pub.

Kempsey and Alfrick Safer Neighbourhood Team say that The Royal Oak pub in Broadwas on Teme was raided between 4pm and 9.45pm on Saturday (January 21).

Their statement said: "Between 1600hrs and 2145hrs person(s) unknown have smashed a window and gained entry to the pub. "They have stolen £500 cash and a cash box containing £600 in coins."

The manager of the Royal Oak Pub said that it was a flat above the pub that was broken into and that the money taken was a staff member's personal money, rather than money belonging to the pub.

He claimed that someone had climbed onto the roof and entered through an upstairs window.

He also said that the window was not smashed, but ripped off its hinges.
