FLYTIPPERS have dumped rubbish in front of a field gate, blocking it completely.

The photo shows that the gate at Kinnersley Bank, Madge Hill, Severn Stoke is totally blocked by the mountain of debris which is believed to have been dumped on Thursday.

Malvern Hills District Council was informed of the incident on Monday but the mess has yet to be cleared.

Flytippers can be fined and we reported how one was caught on camera by Bromsgrove District Council on June 17/18 last year.

In an incident unrelated to the flytipping at Severn Stoke, Edward Power, 40, of Northfield was fined £400 for flytipping on two occasions when he appeared before magistrates on January 19 this year.

Cllr David Harrison, independent district councillor for Kempsey said the rubble in front of the gate included soil, rubble and glass.

He said: "It's very annoying and selfish. It's ridiculous and it's going to cost a fortune to remove it.

"This is the first incident I have seen for ages in my ward of Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Croome.

"It looks like between eight or 10 tonnes but it could be more. This has been done by a quiet lane at night."

He said fortunately the rubbish was on the verge rather than blocking the road itself but that it still represented a nuisance for residents or anyone who needed to use the gate.

Amanda Smith, community services manager at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “This flytipping was reported to us on February 20 and we will clear it as quickly as we can. Flytipping is a blight to rural areas and we want people to report it to us especially if they witness an incident. Flytipping costs thousands of pounds to the local taxpayer every year.”
