TRIBUTES have been paid to a 'real-friendly face' who is celebrating ten years working at a dogs trust.

Claire Ward joined Evesham Dogs Trust in 2007 and has spend the last decade as a carer to dogs at the rehoming centre.

Mrs Ward, has seen around 10,000 homeless hounds come into the centre and it is estimated that she has spent 5,000 hours walking the pooches.

Chris Slight, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: "Claire is loved by two and four-legged friends alike at the rehoming centre and we want to thank her for her hard work and commitment over the past 10 years.

"She is a real-friendly face around the rehoming centre and she always goes above and beyond to make the dogs’ lives that little bit happier while they wait for their forever homes."

Mrs Ward met her husband Rick Ward, a maintenance operative at the dogs trust whilst at work and they have now been married for four years.

They share their home with five dogs, including two former Dogs Trust Evesham residents.

Mrs Ward said: "The last 10 years have flown by and I have loved every minute.

"I’m so lucky to work with such a great group of people and of course the dogs who make it all worthwhile.

"I remember coming here 42 years ago looking for a dog, and it has been wonderful to end up working here.

"The centre is a lot different to 42 years ago, but the one thing that remains consistent is the desire to make the dogs’ lives as enjoyable as possible during their time here.

"I can get quite attached to the dogs at the centre, especially the cute terriers but I am so pleased for them when they finally find their special someone and get the happy ending they deserve.

"It brings me so much joy to spend time with the dogs and see the difference I can make to their lives."
