DINING out is becoming more and more popular, with the average person eating in restaurants twice a week – research reveals.
According to a survey by VoucherCodes.co.uk, the average person dines out twice a week, with pub meals the nation's favourite choice.
The research also showed the average person spends £44 a week on restaurant bills – making it an expensive habit.
Matt Turner, founder and chief executive officer of dining club tastecard, said: "We’re a nation that loves to eat out and socialise.
"This doesn’t necessarily have to be for a special occasion, it could be an unplanned treat one lunchtime.

Do your research when it comes to discount cards
If you’re feeling extra thrifty, do your research and find out about nifty dining discount cards such as a tastecard, which eases the strain on your wallet and makes regular dining out affordable.
New restaurant openings
Keep an eye out for new restaurant openings, as often they will put on discounts for the first few months to gain momentum, or offer complimentary food or drink on the opening night. Take advantage of this by ensuring you know when opening nights are taking place and make sure you are on the guest-list!
Don’t eat out on an empty stomach
Try not to turn up to a restaurant absolutely ravenous. Combat this throughout the day with plenty of filling snacks. That way you won’t be tempted to splurge on lots of extra sides to fill you up.
Sharing is caring
Sharing a dish with a friend is a great way to cut down on costs, and try a couple of different dishes. Many restaurants incorporate sharing platters or larger portion sizes into their menus, making it easier for diners to share.
