EVERYONE and his dog attending a special animal day at Hanbury’s Jinney Ring Craft Centre will be able to meet a variety of unique creatures including snakes, creepy crawlies and even a pony.

The annual Animals R Magic event takes place in the gardens of the centre on Sunday, July 16 with all proceeds going to the Cinnamon Trust, a nationalorganisation which helps elderly and terminally ill people care for their pets and other local animal charities.

Local charities and voluntary organisations including the Warwickshire & West Mercia Retired Police Dogs Welfare Fund will be in attendance.

Visitors can talk to handlers about their experiences of working with the dogs to apprehend criminals and search for missing people, drugs, cash, firearms and explosives and the work of the Welfare Fund in helping these canine heroes when they retire.

PC Steve Morrell, of West Mercia & Warwickshire dog section, will be attending the event. He said: "We are looking forward to Animals R Magic so both we and some of our retired dogs can meet members of the public to promote our work."

Charlie the search dog and Peeler, the police mascot, will be patrolling the grounds on the day.

There will also be demonstrations of agility, obedience and canicross (cross country running with dogs) and a have-a-go scurry throughout the day.

As well as meeting local animal charities, people are invited to bring their pooches for the fun dog show to find the 'best biscuit catcher', 'best rescue' and 'waggiest tail'.

Youngsters can show off their skills in the 'best junior handler class'. Entries for all dog show classes will be taken on the day.
There will also be a range of stalls, refreshments, raffles, tombolas and competitions.

Patrick Williams, head of community services at the Cinnamon Trust said: "Everyone at The Trust would like to wish all involved with Animals R Magic 2017 a fantastic and joy-filled day."

Animals R Magic is open from 11am until 5pm, admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children.
