MORE than 1,000 people have enjoyed a community festival.

Visitors to St Peter's Parish Festival event, held for the third year running in Power Park, St Peter's, watched displays of Bhangra dancing, zumba and shows from All Sorts of Performing Arts, Voices Unlimited and Worcestershire Martial Arts.

There were also a variety of stalls, a barbecue, bouncy castle, a climbing activity and rope bridge and a dog show.

Youngsters were able to take pony rides around the field, play games devised by Happy Steps Fitness, and enjoy ice creams and cupcakes as well as try out cooking ideas for themselves.

Members of the emergency services were also there chatting with the children and showing them inside their vehicles.

Ollie Wharton, aged 8, said he enjoyed the festival.

He said: "I was shocked because we won a book in the raffle.

"My favourite thing was the robot which danced. His head span around.

"I want to come back next year."

Rachel Preece, 41, from St Peter's said: "I do think it's very good for the community.

"I've seen loads of friends here.

"There's been lots to entertain the children, mostly for free."

Alex Booth, the clerk for St Peter's Parish Council, said: "It's a great community event.

"There's nothing else like this in St Peter's so it's one day when people from St Peter's can come together."

The event was organised by St Peter's Parish Council and run by festival organiser Sian Archer who said: "It went really well.

"Monkeys in Motion who started the festival off were amazing."

Councillor Roger Knight said: "Sian has done a really good job this year. It's the best one we've ever had and we're looking forward to next year."

The festival took place between noon and 4pm today.
