THIS was the scene after a hit and run crash which saw a tractor plough into a home near Pershore.

The vehicle smashed into the property's utility room and tore down its exterior wall, causing damage to its water pipes.

The occupants had to switch off their water and gas supply due safety concerns, and because water was escaping from the broken pipes.

A neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, described the damage as "dreadful".

West Midlands Ambulance said a number of people were "shocked" by the incident but no one had been injured.

They added: "A 64-year-old woman had been checked over and found to be in shock but otherwise unhurt."

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue service crews from Droitwich, Pershore and Evesham said a house wall had collapsed.

Crews carried out a survey of the structure and worked to make sure the building was safe.

A building inspector from Wychavon District Council also attended the scene.

Emergency services were at the scene from just after 3pm. The incident was closed at 5.20pm.

Following the incident, Piers Morris, aged 30, of Malvern View, Bishampton, was charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, being the driver of a vehicle failing to stop after a road accident, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was detained to appear at Redditch Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday, September 19) where the case was transferred to Worcester Crown Court. The case is set to be heard in October.

West Mercia Police said there was another crash in Main Road, Bishampton, at 1.30pm between a Ford van and a tractor but it could not confirm if the incidents were connected.
