AN inspirational fashion designer and lecturer has been remembered four years after he lost his battle against a brain tumour.

Simon Seivewright, a talented former King's School pupil whose clients included Vivienne Westwood, died aged 40.

Each year, the family from Ombersley honour his memory by raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity.

His parents Diane and Max have set up the Simon Seivewright Supporter Group Fund, and all funds raised by the group are allocated to the research element of the charity, which was their son's wish.

They are hoping to reach £14,000 by Christmas.

His mother Diane said: "He was truly inspirational."

She described him as a "true gentleman" and "the perfect son."

"He was fun loving, generous. He was very caring of his students," she said.

"He loved his bubbly and cake. He was a loving uncle to his nephew Cooper."

She said: "He is our main motivation for raising monies for The Brain Tumour Charity.

"Our aim is to continue raising awareness and funds for this charity as long as we can.

"We feel so lucky to have a good supportive community around us who have helped us through the past four years."

Mr Seivewright was a lecturer at Northbrook College in Worthing and was passionate about the fashion industry.

He was educated at The Kings School in Worcester and the Art College in Stourbridge and gained his art and fashion degree at Sussex University. In 1995 he won Graduate of the Year at the BHS Graduate Fashion Week exhibition.

As a stylist, his clients included Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix, Simply Red, All Saints, BBC and The London Fashion Week.

He was the author of the best-selling text book, Basic Fashion Design 01.

Every year his family hold a charity golf day at Ombersley Golf Club and recently, on the fourth anniversary of Mr Seivewright’s death, some 68 golfers turned out for the event.

Mrs Seivewright said: "We try and organise at least one (golfing) event every year, and so far over the last four years we have managed to raise a total of £13,693.21

"These wonderful golfers braved all the elements - there was sun, almost gale force winds, and torrential rain.

"We had lots of raffle prizes donated by local businesses, and the golf score cards were also printed for free.

"Thanks to their generosity and that of the golfers, we managed to raise a total of £1,562.50 on the day.

"We also had help from our daughter Alexandra on the day, and a dear friend Keith Bufton also gave his time to take photos of all the teams so that they could have a memento from the day."

Mr Seivewright lost his 11 month battle Grade 4 Glioblastoma Brain Tumour on Friday, September 13 2013.
