POST Office bosses have said they are working hard to re-open a Worcester branch which has been closed for two months.

Dines Green Post Office has been closed since September 27.

The post office has cited "operational reasons".

Staff have repeated an apology to customers following the Gresham Road branch's closure.

They said they are assessing the safety and security of the Post Office network.

A Post Office spokesman said: "We sincerely apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Dines Green Post Office.

"We understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services. We would like to reassure customers that the decision to suspend services at any of our branches is never taken lightly.

"We take very seriously any decision to temporarily close a branch, and will only do so when it is warranted by the circumstances of the particular case, for example to protect customers, Post Office assets or the safety and security of the Post Office network.

"We are working hard to restore services for the community as quickly as possible."

Postal services at Dines Green Post Office remain closed but the shop itself is open for business.

A date has not been set for when the branch will reopen.

People have been advised to visit St Johns Post Office, in King Charles Place, which is about 22 minutes away on foot or a six minute drive.

They can also visit Worcester Post Office in High Street.
