MUM of three and former Butlin’s Red Coat and council officer Lottie Wilde is bringing the party spirit to toddlers and their parents in Worcestershire.

The 33-year-old from Hartlebury has exactly the right experience and background to get parents and toddlers up on the dance floor and enjoying themselves.

Her Lottie’s Little Movers sessions are already popular in Hartlebury and Harvington, near Mustow Green, and some of the participants travel all the way from Malvern, Hanley Castle and Worcester, to boogie on down for 40 minutes under disco lights and wearing costumes. She is now bringing them to Hallow near Worcester.

She said she came up with the idea because she took her young ones – now aged five, three and two - along to toddler groups, to also give herself chance to socialise and found she was sitting there clapping to the music while her children just ran around.

She said: “I have three small children, who absolutely adore running around, dancing, bouncing and being imaginative, but I’ve found a serious lack of activities particularly in my local area, that just focus on energetic fun.

“A lot of groups seem to be for the mums to socialise, or are more structured, and I’ve found myself sat in a circle clapping alone, while my child runs around behind me.

“Lottie’s Little Movers is designed to feel like a party every week, where the sole focus is having fun, being silly, laughing and being able to make memories with your child.”

Lottie provides costumes so the children can dress up and she says the music is selected to appeal to the toddlers and their parents so that everyone can get dancing. She says it is too loud for people to stand around talking so everyone puts on their dancing shoes.

She added: “I currently run classes across the Wyre Forest area, and they have proved really popular. I find the adults enjoy it, as much as the children. Many have said it’s the closest they’ve been to a night out since they had children.”

Lottie says she is not formally trained as a dance teacher but she is not teaching, she’s providing toddlers and mums or dads a chance to let their hair down and have some fun.

Her experience as a Red Coat at Butlin’s is ideal for getting everyone up on the dancefloor and having a good time.

“As a Red Coat, it was my job to get everyone involved in what was going on. Parents and grandparents used to love it. You have to make it fun,” said Lottie.

She added that she really enjoys running the sessions – who wouldn’t enjoy having a party several times a week. She also takes her two younger children along who are still pre-school age.

But surprisingly Lottie said she suffers from anxiety. “I have always been shy and quiet. When I went to toddler groups on my own, I felt really uncomfortable.”

She says running the dancing sessions has really helped her regain some of her lost confidence.

“It has actually made me feel a bit more confident. It has made me feel people are not so judgemental and people like me.

“These classes are the kind of group I would have felt comfortable attending, you can just get so wrapped up in having fun with your child, you don’t need to be making small talk, or worrying about how you look, and you can just let your child enjoy themselves without having to keep pulling them back to a circle or activity.”

The sessions are not structured and everyone can be creative and do what they want. “It is like a kids disco. They have freedom to do whatever they want. “
