We’re wigging out for charity
7:10pm Saturday 11th August 2012 in Worcester
HAIR-RAISING: Staff at Asda in St Martin’s Quarter, Worcester, wear brightly coloured wigs as part of Hair for Hospices, a campaign to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.
BUSINESSES across Worcestershire took part in a hair-raising scheme to raise money for for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.
Dave Benbow Hairdressing in London Road and Asda Worcester were a few who took part in Hair for Hospices on August 8.
Local schools, clubs, hair salons and businesses were invited to get involved and colour their hair for the day, wear unusual ribbons or don a brightly coloured wig.
Lizzie Brazier, St Richard’s community fund-raiser, said: “ It’s great to see everyone wanting to get involved and help raise money for the hospice. Some of the hair dos and wigs were fantastic. Thank you to all those who took part.”
St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. Over the next five years the hospice, in Wildwood Drive, plans to develop patient services to meet specialist palliative and end of life care needs within the community, including expanding Hospice at Home services.
