A DROITWICH family has raised more than £1,000 for St Richard’s Hospice as a thank you for the care of their late son.
John Fletcher and his wife Sue lost their youngest son Paul in December 2010, aged 34, after he had fought several cancers for more than two years.
Sue, Paul’s wife Sarah and their son Jack, his sister Jane and her husband Peter and niece and nephew Megan and Harry Jones walked from Worcester to Blooms Garden Centre, near Claines, on what would have been Paul’s 36th birthday.
The family raised £260 on the three-mile walk and later that evening Sue and Jane collected funds around most of the pubs between Droitwich and Worcester.
The previous weekend family and friends collected £617 from customers at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold and a further £385 from regulars in Droitwich pubs.
Sue and John Fletcher regularly open their garden in Showell Road, Droitwich, for St Richard’s and Mr Fletcher said: “Paul had marvellous support from all who were involved in his treatment but particularly from the marvellous folk who work at St Richard’s Hospice.”
