FRIENDS, families and neighbours are set to come together across Worcester to make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend by having a right royal knees-up.

In honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee they will be decking their roads in red, white and blue while enjoying a good, old fashioned British street party.

Worcester City Council has granted 13 street closures free of charge to allow communities the chance to gather and toast Her Majesty’s 60 years on the throne.

The roads closed to traffic will be Tattershall; Wolverton Road; Kerry Hill, Pinkett Street; St Michael’s Road; Rowan Avenue, Bacchurst Place; Beech Avenue North; Kingston Avenue; Pitchcroft Lane; Cormorant Rise in Lower Wick; The Grove in Claines; and from the junction of Westminster Road and the Green to the junction with Lichfield Avenue and the Green.

Away from the street parties there will be plenty of chances to get the bunting out and flags waving.
