The residents of Mickleton enjoyed four days of events to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

Saturday was a Family Day with a children's fancy dress parade and children's games. Then, on Sunday, part of the road in the centre of the village was closed off for the Big Lunch, with a barbecue and cold buffet and a demonstration of line dancing, which was well supported and enjoyed by all in spite of the rain.

The better weather on Monday brought out the crowds to picnic in the 12 Acre field, listen to the music provided by two bands, bounce on the inflatables and finally watch the beacon being lit on Meon Hill, followed by a magnificent firewirk display.

The fourth day, Tuesday, was devoted to exhibitions of various aspects of village life held in four different venues and ending with a village treasure hunt, Based on information supplied by Maureen Shears.
