ONE Worcester youngster hoping to hear the words “You’re hired” is 18-year-old Alex Williams, who is an apprentice at city centre design and marketing company Modus Creative.

At Modus’ offices in Foregate Street, Alex is working as a junior account executive, as part of his modern apprenticeship in creative and digital media.

Within the creative environment at Modus, he is in direct contact with clients and is working on projects for customers involving graphic design, planning, copy and creative skills.

Guy Marson, Modus Creative director, said the training would equip Alex for a future career in design and marketing. He said: “Alex has been with us as an apprentice since June and we are delighted that we took him on.

“He has considerable potential, helped by his outgoing personality and confident approach in the workplace.”

Although the company has frequently taken students on work placements, this is the first year that Modus has been involved in the Modern Apprenticeship scheme, as part of the Worcester News 100 in 100 apprentices campaign.

Mr Marson said: “We were keen to take on an apprentice as part of our growth and succession planning. More important, however, is the need to support local, young talent to keep it here in Worcestershire. The scheme helps the apprentices get the experience they need, as well as supporting local employers and the community.”

Alex said: “I’ve really enjoyed the five weeks I’ve been at Modus Creative. The Modus team is awesome.

“They couldn’t have made it easier to settle into a working environment “I look forward to working for them over the next 12 months and feel over the moon that they have given me this opportunity.”
