Bookshop can supply faiths texts

CUSTOMERS at a Christian bookshop in Worcester will still be able to buy copies of non-Christian holy texts despite the chain removing them from the shelves.

The new policy of SPCK Bookshops, which has a branch in Worcester High Street, says the chain will remove texts such as the Koran as it is believed they are inimical' to Christianity.

But Stephen Jeynes, manager of Worcester's branch, said the decision would not affect customers in the city as the texts have never been stocked.

"This decision is not anti other faiths," he said. "But as a Christian bookshop we will be selling Chrisitan books.

"We have never stocked non-Christian holy texts here as there hasn't been the demand - but if someone came in and wanted to order one then that would be fine.

"We do still stock books about what other faiths believe in compared to what the Bible says."
