MORE than 200 aspiring cricket stars took part in the Chance To Shine programme at Chantry High School in Martley, near Worcester.
Despite the recent flooding problems across the county, co-ordinator Phil Tongue staged a successful week's cricket coaching with the help of the school's PE staff.
Teachers Andy Stone, Matt Loftus, Wez Davis and Darren Reynolds all assisted Tongue in helping the pupils to develop their skills and enthusiasm for the game.
The programme finished with a one-day festival which saw all of the boys involved take part in an inter-house tournament.
During the competition, the youngsters put into practice the skills they had learnt throughout the week.
Tongue said: "The festival was a brilliant day and the kids really enjoyed it.
"The fact there were medals on offer for the winners really spurred them on.
"I am hoping to be able to run the Chance To Shine scheme again next year, because this year's event has been such a success.
"It has been a challenge to organise the project, but I've thoroughly enjoyed it."
