Police return to scene of ram raid a week on
POLICE will return to the scene of a ram-raid at a Group 4 Securicor (G4S) in Droitwich tonight, a week after the crime, for an anniversary check.
Officers believe seven men used two 4x4s to force their way into the depot on the town's Berry Hill industrial estate and steal a substantial amount of cash on Monday, November 5.
Although the amount of money taken has not been made public, G4S has offered a £25,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.
Officers are particularly keen to trace two high performance cars used by the men to escape.
One was an RS4 Quattro estate with false registration plates and the other was a top-of-the-range A8 saloon with no known registration.
The silver Mitsubishi Shogun and green Land Rover Discovery used to gain access to the depot, and later found to be stolen from Redditch, were abandoned at the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector David Morgan said: "This burglary was carried out by a well-organised team of criminals and West Mercia Constabulary is determined to conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
"A dedicated team of detectives and other specialist staff are working on the investigation - which also provides reassurance to the local community and employees in the security industry that an efficient and effective investigation is being carried out."
He added that offences of this nature were very rare.
CCTV pictures of the four vehicles have already been released and officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen any one or any combination of them prior to or since the burglary.
Anyone who saw any suspicious activity near the Securicor depot in the weeks leading up to the burglary should also contact police on 08457 444 888, quoting 702S/051107, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
