ON-LOAN defender Paul Bignot will be with Kidderminster Harriers for another month after Crewe boss Dario Gradi agreed to extend the two sides' arrangement.

Despite missing three games through suspension after his red card against Oxford, full-back Bignot - along with his fellow loanees - has impressed Harriers boss Mark Yates and he goes straight into the squad for the Conference visit of Forest Green Rovers.

Loan signings Bignot, Plymouth striker Reuben Reid and Doncaster wideman Craig Nelthorpe have all played big parts in Harriers' recent renaissance and Yates has been delighted with his temporary trio.

He said: "Paul is a good defender and he's very quick and extremely difficult to beat in one-on-one situations.

"Reuben has given us that extra spark that was perhaps just missing and he's done well and scored some good goals. It's the same with Craig, he's done well too.

"I'm delighted we've got Paul for another month and the only one I'm waiting to hear more on is Reuben at the moment. It's obviously Plymouth's prerogative to keep me waiting and I fully understand that."

Yates is also happy with the selection headache he has been given by the arrival of his loan players.

He added: "With Paul and the emergence of Michael Blackwood I think we've got two good defenders who really love to get on the ball.

"I know Jeff Kenna is close to coming back but he still needs time and games to get back to match fitness but having Paul here is great - I don't want any player to just be able to walk back into the side and because of that I've got decisions to make.

"I felt after one of the games that the squad needed a boost and the arrival of one or two new faces has freshened us up."

One man who has certainly been re-envigorated in recent weeks is Andy White. Now the former Mansfield man is hoping to hold on to his place in the side despite Reid's return after being cup-tied for the 5-1 Droylsden demolition.

The striker said: "I knew before the game on Saturday that Reuben would be back this weekend, so I'm not sure if what I did against Droyslden will have been enough to change the manager's mind.

"The two goals I scored have obviously perked me up a bit but I think I have been playing well for a couple of games."

Yates added: "It just hadn't happened for Andy so far this season but he's scored four goals in the past six weeks or so, he's starting to look like the player we all know.

"The competition for places is what it's all about and we've got that. Andy did really well against Droylsden and he probably could've had a couple more.

"Having said that Reuben gives us a spark whenever he plays.

"It's a nice dilemma to have and to be honest I haven't made my mind up yet."

Jake Sedgemore is set to shake off a bug to declare himself fit.
