PHIL Mullen has been unveiled as the new manager at Stourport Swifts.

Mullen is returning to Walshes Meadow for his third stint and he will be assisted by Kidderminster Harriers legend Paul Davies.

The pair, who succeed Roy Rencher and Jake Findlay as the management team, were introduced to the players ahead of last night's training session. Chairman Chris Reynolds has made the appointment a week before Swifts' next Southern League Division One Midlands match at Aylesbury United on Saturday, November 11.

Swifts are currently fourth from bottom of the table but Reynolds believes Mullen is the man to take the team forward.

Mullen has also managed Evesham, Bromsgrove and Redditch as well as a caretaker spell at Harriers.

Reynolds said: "It's his third time at the club, he's had success and I don't see why that can't happen again.

"We shortlisted and made a decision that Phil and Paul would be the ones for us."

Reynolds added: "I think he knows a lot of players in the local area, which perhaps we need a little bit more of with passion to play for the club and to bring a fresh start.

"With all due respect, Roy and Jake had a good squad but not that bit of luck to kick-start things. I wish them all the best and we left with no animosity."

The chairman is not expecting wholesale changes as all of the playing squad have agreed to stay with the club.
