SOUGHT-after Saxons back-rower Matt Kvesic insists no deal has been done to take him away from Sixways when his contract expires this summer.

The homegrown Worcester flanker (pictured) also hinted that he would be happy to remain a Warrior beyond the end of his current deal — on the proviso that he is playing regular rugby in the number seven jersey.

The impressive 20-year-old, who this year graduated from captaining the England under 20s into the senior set-up’s Saxons squad, has been linked with moves to both Saracens and Wasps in recent weeks.

However, he insists a new contract is not at the front of his mind at the moment and he is instead fully focused on doing his best for the Worcester cause.

“I have not really had much thought or conversation about my contract,” said Kvesic, who was speaking at the LV=Cup launch. “I can definitely say it’s not a done deal that I’m moving to another Premiership club.

“Coming back after the summer, I just wanted to get my head down, get as many games under my belt as I could and make sure Worcester want to keep me.

“That is the key for me, keeping my head down and playing rugby and if I do that I should be OK.”

With LV=Cup fixtures on the horizon against Scarlets and Wasps, Kvesic is desperate to use the competition as a springboard to prove his form and fitness to head coach Richard Hill.

Kvesic underwent shoulder surgery in the summer and so has not hit the ground running for Worcester as he would have liked so far this season but it is performances and not transfers that the back-row forward hopes will hit the headlines in the coming weeks.
