TERRY Jenkins will be aiming to build on his recent upturn in fortunes when he opens his William Hill Grand Slam of Darts campaign on Sunday.

The Ledbury Bull, who reached the quarter-finals of both Players Championship events last weekend, is part of a stellar field competing for the £100,000 top prize at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Jenkins, a finalist in the event in 2008, has been drawn in Group ‘G’ alongside number six seed Wes Newton, the European Championship and UK Open finalist, Dutchman Wesley Harms and Welshman Martin Phillips.

His first match is against Harms on Sunday afternoon before he plays again next Monday night and then Wednesday.

Jenkins showed good form in reaching the last eight of the two Players Championships at Crawley’s K2 Centre.

On each occasion he was ousted by Australian Simon Whitlock, 6-4 in the first tournament, which was won by the man from Down Under, and 6-5 in the second.

In the first, Jenkins scooped £1,000 after defeating James Richardson (6-5), Mick Todd (6-1), Colin Osborne (6-4) and Gary Anderson (6-3).

Following a first-round bye in the second event, wins over Ross Smith (6-0), Osborne (6-3) and Anderson (6-1) again secured £1,000.
