EVESHAM United manager Paul West begins his second stint in charge at the club tomorrow with a tough trip to league leaders Hungerford Town (3pm).

West has been in caretaker charge for the last three Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West matches but has now been appointed permanently.

He believes there is plenty of work needed to get the Robins firing again after they suffered their fourth defeat in five matches in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Cinderford Town.

They did briefly buck that trend with a 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Yate Town last month and West will hope to inspire his players to another victory at Hungerford.

He said: “I have assessed it for the last 10 days in terms of the players, their mentality and fitness. Clearly, there was something wrong.

“We won 3-0 at home against Yate but I wasn’t getting carried away with it because I could see faults early on in that game.

“It’s not rocket science to see there’s a lot of work to be done with the first team.”

Wing-back James Blake has returned to Evesham following a spell at Bromsgrove Sporting but Mark Danks has been released with fellow striker Justin Nisbett rejoining from Halesowen Town.

New Aussie signing Joel Hardwick, a right-sided player, finally received international clearance to make his debut as a substitute at Cinderford.

Fellow forward Roland Agbor still has two games of a four-match suspension to serve.
