ROOKIES Daniel Belgrave and Kalil Irving are set to give Worcester Wolves a shot in the arm for their home match with Cheshire Jets tonight (7pm).

The duo are poised to return from injury as the University of Worcester-based side seek to bounce back from a 85-79 British Basketball League defeat at Glas-gow Rocks and a 107-85 loss at Newcastle Eagles in the BBL Cup.

Forward Belgrave has not featured since he scored 26 points in the 98-59 thrashing of the Jets four weeks ago because of a knee problem, although he did get a run-out for the seconds last month.

Irving, a power forward, picked up a groin strain in the cup exit and also sat out the Rocks reverse.

Director of basketball Paul James is now hoping to have both available to bring some much-needed impetus to his side.

However, point guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue won’t be involved as the American is still waiting to have his passport issued and is now likely to arrive next week.

“They are two young lads who play with a lot of energy and give the team a bit of a spark and that’s something that we have been missing of late,” James said.

“In Daniel, we have found someone who is making perimeter shots and making life easy for everybody else because you have that consistent threat. We have struggled a little bit without that so we are hoping he will be back fit this weekend.

“Kalil is young but he plays without fear and has given us a lot of quality minutes this year so we’ve missed his energy as well.”

James has also called on his experienced Wolves players to get their act together following the Glasgow defeat.
